INTEGRATED SECURITY SYSTEMS, INC. ANNOUNCES B&B ARMR
CORPORATION
MEETS CHALLENGE IN MIDDLE EAST PERIMETER SECURITY PROJECT
IRVING, TX — April 27, 2004— Integrated Security Systems, Inc. (OTCBB
Symbol: IZZI) today announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, B&B ARMR
Corporation, received and shipped a major perimeter security order,
start to finish, in three weeks in March for a critical Mid East
facility. The project comprised a number of crash gates to secure a
compound that houses US contractors that are assisting in an important
infrastructure rebuilding program.
B&B ARMR was approached in early March by the joint venture of PAE-Louis
Berger with the challenge of producing Model 450 and 712 crash gates for
an expedited air shipment for this critical protection program. In just
three weeks, B&B ARMR worked with its supplier partners to design and
implement a logistics, manufacturing, and assembly program that resulted
in the delivery of high security rated cantilever and crash gates.
“We had an extremely tight schedule and needed to secure commitment from
all our supply partners. B&B ARMR readily accepted the challenge and
dedicated a project team. It was just what this situation needed” stated
Jeffrey Willis, Project Manager for Louis Berger. “In a project such as
this, there is no such thing as close, we had to do everything with
precision and B&B ARMR stepped up.”
“In a situation where we can help with our country’s efforts in the
Middle East, we certainly understood the priority. Business as usual
doesn’t cut it anymore and we are proud of our team for this
accomplishment”, stated Ted Wlazlowski, Executive Vice President. “These
gates are very large and quite complex and so a number of concurrent
manufacturing and logistics processes needed to be coordinated quickly.
Quality could not be compromised.”
B&B ARMR’s model 712/714 Crash Beam Barrier Gates are engineered and
designed to protect at-risk access points and prevent forced vehicle
entry or exit for industrial, commercial and institutional facilities
including oil refineries, chemical plants, train yards, storage
facilities, technical centers, nuclear facilities, embassies, military
installations and government agencies. Available in sizes from 12'
(3.66m) to 28' (8.53m), the crash beam barrier gates are capable of
stopping a 10,000 lb (4,535.9 kg) vehicle traveling at 18 mph (29
km/hr). B&B ARMR’s crash beams have been successfully crash tested for
energy absorption capacity per U.S. Navy Specifications and Department
of the Army.
B & B ARMR's 400 series cantilever gates have a minimum roadway opening
of 12 feet (3.65 m) and a maximum opening of 26 feet (7.92 m). Towering
at a height of 9 feet (2.74 m), the cantilever gate system is also an
intimidating visual deterrent. Both the Model 400 and the model 410 are
capable of stopping a 15,000 lb (6863.8 kgs) vehicle traveling 30 mph
(48 km/h). Even more powerful, the Model 450 is capable of stopping a
15,000 lb (6863.8 kgs) vehicle traveling at 50 mph (80 km/h). Basic
components of the cantilever gates include a motor side buttress
assembly, cantilever gate leaf, receiver assembly, drive unit, and an
electro-hydraulic locking mechanism. B & B ARMR's cantilever gates have
been successfully crash tested to meet strict Department of State
specifications and are individually inspected at time of final assembly
and test/
